Cosworth's North American facility, located in Torrance California, was created in 1977, initially to support customer teams using the turbocharged DFX engine in the USAC & then to be CART championship.

Cosworth also supplied parts to competitors in the Formula Atlantic series using the venerable Cosworth BDA engine. The operation was run from a small facility and business was primarily sales & service.

Today Cosworth Inc is housed in a larger 23,500 square foot facility, its primary function is to supply engines to the entire Champcar grid and undertake all maintenance work.

This means building, testing and providing trackside support for the series. In addition to the Champ Car program, there are numerous other race series that rely on Cosworth's support in some way or form. These include IRL, Speed World Series, numerous Historic Race Series and NASCAR.

New ventures include Cosworth's participation in the sport compact performance market with upgrade kits and performance parts for the Duratec powered Ford Focus. Cosworth's Torrance facility also offers complete performance machine work such as cylinder block boring and cylinder head work.

Employing 50+ people, Cosworth Inc is a small and effective group of multi tasked employees eager to add performance & prestige to the world of performance engines.

The facility comprises:

Two climate & air pressure controlled test rig rooms
Environmentally friendly cleaning room with aqua-based cleaning processes and machines
Fabrication shop for internal dyno and test equipment manufacture
Machine shop including CNC lathes & vertical multi access machine centres’ to handle tailored assembly and update machining procedures
Fully stocked Parts Department
